Baptism

Two posts in one night, I'm on a roll!

Today, we celebrated Evan's baptism. It was special, because his Godmother and Auntie was finally home from Arizona and also because his Grandpa Sell was able to perform the ceremony at our church. He got everyone else involved too, so it was truly a family affair.

Grandpa Steinhoff poured the water

And his Auntie/Godmother wiped it off!

Grandma Steinhoff put the white garment over him

Pretty cool that my dad was able to perform my son's baptism!

My Grandma was able to come too!

What a lucky kid to have such great parents and godparents!

3 Months

Yes, I know, Evan has been three months old for quite some time now, but with being back to work and having a lot of things going on on weekends, I just haven't found the time to take his pictures, let alone blog!

He has been doing great in his third month! The biggest accomplishment/milestone is of course that he is rolling over from tummy to back. He doesn't do it every time he is on his stomach, but he will do it quite often. He also looks like he's trying to figure out how to get from his back to stomach at times, but that might just be a fluke!

In addition to that, he holds his head up really well, has been sitting up (with some help of course) and has even pulled himself up to a sitting position from lying down once or twice. His teacher at daycare says he is VERY strong and other parents have even stated it to her. We're very proud :) Of course, Chris takes all the credit, thinking that as a boy he's taking after his dad.

He is also starting to be more purposeful in his reaching and grabbing. He can hold onto things much better and has a good, strong grip. He is also putting anything and everything in his mouth these days, including his thumb!

An unofficial weigh-in on our bathroom scale put Evan at about 14 pounds, which is just about right. We haven't taken a tape measure to him lately, but I'm guessing he is well-over 24 inches now. He is almost maxing out the stretch on his 3-6 month sleepers, so at night so he stays comfy, we've been putting him in 6-9 months ones and they aren't even that big on him.

Ever since he started daycare he's been fighting a stuffy nose (gotta love first exposure to germs!!), but I think we're starting to get on the mend. Though I'm sure as soon as he gets over this, there will be something else on the horizon, especially with the winter months upon us!

Other than that, he is our delightful, happy boy. We get lots and lots of smiles, plenty of laughs and not too many tears. He has been seeming to get startled more and crying in response, so he must be getting more and more aware of everything around him these days. Otherwise, tears are still reserved mainly just for hunger and being tired.

We're still not sleeping through the night, partly I believe because of his stuffy nose, but he does OK. Hopefully as time goes on, we'll stretch out our getting up more and more. Though I wouldn't doubt it if we see some teeth sooner rather than later since he drools quite a bit and teeth can mean some fussy nights I hear (depending on the kid of course). Oh well, we're both getting used to surviving on less sleep than we were used to.

Another exciting thing to recently happen is that Evan finally got to meet his Auntie A! She flew in from Arizona, home for her Thanksgiving break from dental school. He was very excited to meet her and gave her lots of smiles and talked her ear off.

On the move!

I knew this day wasn't too far away, but I can't believe it actually happened. Evan rolled over from his tummy to his back three times today!

He has been rocking back and forth when we do tummy time for a few weeks now and has looked really close to being able to do it, but his one arm always seemed to get in the way. But today, he was holding his head up really high and his arms almost straight up, following his favorite toy, a stuffed "My First Halloween" monkey that my mom gave him. And then he did it!

Speaking of my mom, my parents happened to be here and witness it! We were supposed to be getting together because today is my brother's birthday, but his family has a bit of a stomach bug, so they cancelled, but my parents still came to visit.

Unfortunately, there was one person who wasn't here...Chris! He is off shooting deer (literally! He shot a nice buck today!!) Luckily I was able to get the third roll on camera.

And here it is! Warning: turn down your volume a bit. Even though it wasn't his first time, I scream like it is (and probably will for a little while yet. It's so exciting!)
